B.Me® somatic dance classes In Melbourne- Reconnect to Joy, Flow and Body Wisdom

B.Me® Somatic Dance is a powerful, body-based movement practice for anyone ready to reset, reconnect, and feel more at home in their body. In our fast-paced, mind-driven world, many of us feel disconnected from ourselves, from others, our purpose and life.

These  classes offer a nurturing space for expression, reconnection, and play. Through free dance, embodied somatic practices, conscious movement, breath, rhythm, and sound, you’ll return to a sense of flow, clarity and freedom guided by your body’s inner wisdom. Are you ready? :)

WHAT TO EXPECT

2 hours.

2 Different Experiences.

Your choice.

FIRST HOUR

Move & Flow

W
e will begin by setting an intention, then dance together to shake off the stress, have fun and reconnect with your body.

You will move freely and at your own pace to great music. You can simply dance, let go and enjoy yourself, and/or turn your awareness inward and notice how different rhythms, emotions and people make you feel.

Curiosity and freedom is the name of the game. Do it and move it your own way.

By the end of the hour, your body will feel looser, more awake and open, ready to slow down, deepen your awareness and explore connection through the body.

SECOND HOUR

Explore & Connect

The second hour is about building confidence, body awareness, empowerment, nervous system regulation and resilience through somatic and embodiment practices.

We will explore movement, sensation, expression, play, boundaries and connection, both individually and with others, giving you the opportunity to experience your body in new and different ways.

You will develop a deeper connection with and understanding of your body, learn to trust what you feel and become more confident expressing yourself, while also fostering deeper connection with others.

Each experience will be gently facilitated and supervised, with plenty of space for curiosity, play, laughter and being yourself.

Good Questions
Everything people usually want to know before their first Tuesday.
Do I need dance experience?
Come exactly as you are. There is nothing to learn and nothing to get right. If you can sway, stretch, walk or stand still, you can do this. Most people find that within twenty minutes they forget they were ever worried about it.
Can I come on my own?
Most people do, and it is a lovely way to arrive. You will be welcomed in, and the practice itself connects people far faster than small talk ever does.
Do I have to take part in every exercise?
You choose
Take part in whatever feels right on the night. Sit one out, rest, watch, or stay with your own movement instead. Everything offered is an invitation, and you can change your mind at any point.
Can I leave after the first hour?
Yes
You are welcome to head off at 8pm. Some people find one hour is plenty, and some evenings you may prefer to dance and go. Staying for the second hour is always your choice.
Is this a trauma informed facilitated class?
Yes
Anca is a registered, trauma informed Somatic Psychotherapist and holds the room from start to finish. That means clear structure, consent based invitations, room to move at your own pace, and support available if something big comes up for you.
What if big feelings come up?
Feeling is welcome here and it is held. You can move with it, rest with it, or step outside for a moment. Anca stays with you through it.
How is this different from a regular dance class?
You move the way your body wants to move rather than following steps. The first hour is free expression to music. The second hour is guided somatic practice that builds body awareness and connection with the people around you.
Is it open to everyone?
Yes. All ages, all genders, all bodies. If you are bringing someone under 18, please come along with them and get in touch first so we can make sure it is a good fit.
What should I wear?
Anything you can move and breathe in. Layers work well, since you warm up in the first hour and cool down in the second. Socks or bare feet are perfect. Please come scent free , with perfume, deodorant sprays and essential oils left at home.
Do I have to touch anyone?
Every partner and contact exploration is invited and consent based. Moving solo is always a full option and plenty of people choose it.
Is this the same as therapy?
Nope. This is a facilitated group movement and embodiment class, held by a somtic psychotherapist. For individual support, Anca offers one to one somatic therapy separately.
Tuesday, 7pm.
Come and bring your friends.
Two hours. $35 cash or $40 online. Good music, a warm room and people who are glad you came.
